Enhancing resident safety and delivering efficiency for Paradigm Housing

AICO

Paradigm Housing Group’s vision has an increased focus on providing an excellent service for their customers and on safety and sustainability. This better reflects their ambitions as an organisation. Their immediate priority is to make sure that the homes they provide are safe and that their services are of an excellent standard. The need for new homes has never been greater, and they plan to continue to build affordable homes, working in new partnerships to help achieve their targets. Paradigm Housing Group’s plan also marks the start of their campaign to be a sustainable, zero carbon business.

Aico’s award-winning 3000 Series range of alarms have been specified across their entire housing portfolio, upgrading their alarms to a minimum D1 Grade, LD2 Category in line with the recommendations and best practice guidance out lined within BS5839-6:2019+A1:2020.

As part of the installation process, the Heat, Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms are being interlinked utilising Aico’s innovative Radio Frequency solution. The Ei3000MRF SmartLINK modules have made the installation process more time efficient, less expensive and less disruptive for their customers, whilst future-proofing the installations for other Aico SmartLINK and HomeLINK products.

The SmartLINK Gateway, providing real-time alerts and data insights, has been deployed across many of their supported housing homes. Other benefits of installing SmartLINK modules include:

  • No need for tricky cable runs and unsightly surface mounted trucking
  • When one alarm is triggered, all others sound for audibility throughout the property
  • Ability to easily expand existing systems
  • Achieve remote whole-system data monitoring in a number of supported housing schemes

The installation of alarms is being conducted in conjunction with numerous workstreams, these include electrical testing, void works, planned works, new build and responsive repairs across both their general needs and supported housing properties. Carrying out their planned alarm upgrades in conjunction with other workstreams is a great opportunity for Paradigm to enhance resident safety and reduce disruption to residents, as the whole installation can be completed within a single visit.

Alan Gibson, Electrical QS for the Compliance and Electrical Contracts division of Paradigm Housing Group comments, “We really appreciate the ongoing support that Aico are providing for this project. Their Regional Specification Manager has organised and delivered CPD accredited training sessions for all our Electrical and Gas Engineers as well as our Supply Chain. The training was delivered during numerous sessions onboard Aico’s interactive mobile training unit. In addition to the installer training, they have delivered bespoke training to our Call Centre and Technical Teams to ensure our customers get the best possible advice in relation to the products we are installing.”
