Back in May, the Atkore Marco marketing team were contacted by Chris Nairne to see if we were interested in helping supply Marco bench trunking to a community project as part of Bognor Makerspace in West Sussex.

The project involved setting up a community kitchen which will be used to teach low-income families how to cook wholesome meals with ingredients made available by local supermarkets, food banks and other charity food agencies.

It was agreed that the best (and certainly the tidiest) way to supply the island with power, for single ring stoves, was to have a 3m length of bench trunking running down the middle.

Instead of simply offering a discount, the sales team gave Chris his order free of charge!

Chris and the team were absolutely delighted with our generous contribution to the community kitchen.

As of August 2021, the community kitchen project has now been completed. The first official booking commenced on Thursday 19th August from UK Harvest who hosted 4 half-day cooking courses for children.

Atkore supplied 3m length of Marco’s back-to-back bench trunking, 2 stop ends and 8 socket boxes to help with this project.

After the completed installation, Chris stated “You may think this is a strange thing to say but I think the bench trunking is a thing of beauty. It is the very best solution for supplying sockets to the island. It was also a real pleasure to work with such beautifully engineered kit!”. Thank you to everyone involved in this fantastic project!
