Gripple was first established in 1989 as an ingenious means of joining agricultural wire fencing together. Today, it's a globally recognised manufacturer, delivering innovative, value-added solutions to construction, civil engineering and agricultural markets. Employing over 800 people across 15 global locations, we’re proud to manufacture across four sites in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. A 100% employee-owned company, we have a unique approach to business, characterised by investment in people, innovation and sustainable growth.
Our approach is to manufacture and supply solutions which are less resource intensive than alternatives in the market place. Using Gripple solutions instead of traditional threaded rod and channel when suspending building services ensures a 98% reduction in embodied CO2. In 2019, the use of Gripple solutions rather than traditional systems delivered an estimated CO2 saving of 25 thousand tonnes - a huge environmental benefit within the context of the rapidly growing built environment.
Focusing on simplifying the installation of building services, Gripple provides a technical support function that far surpasses most manufacturers. Recognising the importance of BIM in the ever evolving built environment, Gripple has recently achieved ISO 19650-2 accreditation, assuring contractors of our capability to work in a common data environment and populate a project's BIM model with Revit product families. This service ensures accuracy when ordering products, reducing on-site waste and allowing for precise budgeting at tender stage. Products are transported to site on small transit vehicles in compact cardboard packaging; allowing for ease of onsite handling, waste reduction and offering huge health and safety benefits for all stakeholders.
Traditional materials used to suspend building services typically consists of imported threaded rod and channel, with little traceability of origin or modern slavery act compliance. Materials are then transported to site on HGVs and cut to size, requiring hot works permits and fire watchers, and causing noise pollution in local communities. The use of traditional systems leads to more time spent working at height; the largest cause of commercial accidents. Gripple solutions alleviate these risks; all boxes are labelled by zone or floor, making light work of onsite logistics, removing the need to prepare materials, and reducing the amount of storage and transportation needed.
As a global manufacturer, we recognise our responsibility to reduce our impact on the planet. We have maximised energy efficiency, decreased electricity use, reduced landfill/incinerated waste, increased recycling, conserved use of raw materials, and minimised packaging. Gripple's commitment to ‘greener’ long term investment is characterised by the renovation of our Riverside Works factory in Sheffield, which features over 400 solar panels, Yorkshire’s first river water heating system, the world's largest aquaponics green wall system in a factory, and an evaporative cooling system.
Our people share a consistent set of values, defined as ‘The Gripple Spirit’
– honesty, passion, a desire to have fun, and an enthusiasm to challenge convention. Our commitment to customer service, provision of high quality, trusted solutions, constant focus on production innovation, and passion for supporting our communities is testament to our great, Gripple people.
