New Electromechanical Crimping Tool from Klauke

27-05-2014

The job of the panel builder or professional wireman will see significant benefits with the introduction of the latest tool from German tool and connector manufacturer Klauke.

The new electromechanical crimping tool can take the place of existing manual ratchet crimping tools currently used for pre-insulated connectors (0.5 – 16mm2), Cu tube and sheet metal connectors (0.5 – 10mm2) and cable end sleeves/ boot lace ferrules (0.14 – 50mm2) . The compact and ergonomic design features ‘PowerSense’ technology, allowing users to pre-clamp connectors using the tools trigger, as you would with a mechanical tool, before the powerful motor drive unit performs the crimping process. The tool senses the force applied to the trigger by the user and enables crimped connections to be made on even the largest of connectors (e.g. 50mm2 boot lace) with very little finger force. The crimping process is completed in less than 1.5 secs in a controlled manner.

The fact that the smart tool is capable of over 300 crimps per charge reduces workforce fatigue during the working day. The design of the jaws has been well thought out to accept most of the industry standard dies available today – you are able to take the dies from your existing ratchet tool and put them directly into the power driven tool to take away the strain, eliminate RSI and improve productivity. The 10.8V Li-Ion batteries feature a handy charge indicator to make sure you have plenty of power.

An LED illuminates your working area which can be handy in dark cabinets or confined spaces. The unit is incredibly light at less than 1Kg although for production environments there is a key-ring connection point if a tool balancer facility is required. Long life servicing is set at 35,000 operations to keep you maintenance free for as long as possible.

In line with other Klauke battery crimping & cutting tools, the LED on the tool allows the user to be alerted when a service is approaching and with the ‘iPress’ free software, enables users to print certificates for presentation to clients; improving QA and traceability on all crimping activities.

Sensational value-for-money means this user friendly tool will be a sure hit with all panel builders and OEMs working with manual ratchet tools today.
