Crabtree Distribution Boards & Devices for Amendment 2

15-06-2022

Amendment 2 to the 18th Edition of the IET wiring regulations places additional requirements on designers and installers of electrical installations. These requirements include providing transient overvoltage protection in all electrical installations (Regulation 443.4.1) and providing additional protection by use of a 30mA RCBO on all socket outlets that will be used by ordinary persons, disabled persons or children (Regulation 411.3.3) There are no exceptions permitted to this requirement.

Designers must also take account of the requirements to avoid unwanted tripping (Section 314) and ensure that circuits which are protected by 30mA devices do not have excessive amounts of DC influence (Regulations 531.3.2 and 531.3.3). Within commercial & industrial installations there will be numerous items of equipment with electronic components and the combined effect from PE currents or DC influences from such items will no doubt be excessive for a single RCD. Therefore individual 30mA protection of each socket outlet circuit, by use of a Type A RCBO, is the only effective & compliant method that meets these regulatory requirements.

As you might expect the Crabtree range of TPN distribution boards & devices includes integral type 2 surge protection kits SPDs, and Type A 30mA RCBOs to meet the above requirements. These devices are fully compatible with all 125A or 250A distribution Boards from 4 TP ways to 24 TP ways. There’s a choice of three pole or four pole Switch Disconnector or MCCB incomers. The range of MCBs includes ratings from 3A to 63A, with single, double, and triple pole options in type B, C & D characteristics. In addition there’s integral meter options, add on meter enclosures, lighting & power split metered boards, extension enclosures for DIN Devices. All fully type tested to IEC/BS EN 61439.
