The Challenge

The challenge was to improve the quality of lighting in two substantial office buildings, with an extremely fast turnaround required.

Boasting over 160,000 square foot of office space across 19 floors the Telford Plaza is a landmark office development consisting of two Grade A office buildings in the heart of Telford Town Centre.

As part of major refurbishments, the old light fittings in the communal spaces were required to be replaced. It was evident even to the untrained eye that the lighting levels were unsuitable and presented a less than inviting environment.

TJM Projects St. Helens were awarded the job of the refurbishment project, with the electrical work being subcontracted to NBM Contractors. The lighting was initially to be provided by another lighting manufacturer however upon inspection of the proposed lighting designs TJM went in search for a better solution, this is what led them to RICOMAN.

The Solution

After being let down by another lighting manufacturer, TJM Projects needed a quality solution with only two days before work needed to commence. After seeking advice from Lockwell Electrical Runcorn, RICOMAN were recommended as a company who could provide a fast turnaround, quality product and a quality service.
Understanding that TJM Projects had been let down before and now needed a swift solution, a RICOMAN Project Specification Manager visited site and discussed in detail the requirements for the new LED lighting scheme. During this meeting a full lighting survey was carried out to provide lighting designs with a tailored solution.

The scheme offered lighting for LED light fittings of similar size and colour temperature but at a lower wattage and greater efficacy which reduced energy usage and created a much more inviting lighting environment.  For this project RICOMAN supplied their 23W Pure Slim downlight in 4000 kelvins, these have been used with and without emergency lighting options. In the main lobby areas RICOMAN specified the 30W Capella downlights which each deliver 2550 lumens. In addition, the corridors were also installed with CP PIR sensors that dim the lighting when the area is not in use, further saving energy costs.

The Result

Since installing the new LED lighting, there is an instantly noticeable improvement in light quality and visibility in the communal areas.
