Cable Management Project

The recently constructed Glendinning Academy is a school for children aged from 7 to 19 with social interaction and communication needs, including those on the Autism Spectrum. Initially, the school opened with up to 54 places, growing to 120 students over the first 3 years.

Situated on the former Haytor View Primary School and Children’s Centre in Sandringham Road, Newton Abbot, the grounds have also been designed to support an outdoor and nature-based curriculum.

Electrical and mechanical services specialists Dodd Group were appointed main contractors and following a tendering process selected Centaur Manufacturing for the supply of the PVCu cable management.

Centaur's Customised Solution

As a PVCu cable management manufacturer Centaur were able to offer a complete customised solution. From initial take-offs from the architect’s plans to the provision of samples, supported by data sheets, Centaur established direct communication with Dodd Group’s installation team. On any such installation of complexity this helped ensure the right products were supplied exactly when and where required.

“The objective was to provide a stylish yet competitive, easy to install product that would also contain feature and benefit for the students and staff” said Simon Thorne, Dodd Group’s Electrical Contracts Engineer.

Meridian Dado Trunking 3 Compartment

The Meridian range of dado trunking 3 compartment was finally chosen for its:

• Pre-pierced base feature that assisted when fixing to wall surfaces.
• Flexible internal and external corner bends to adjust should corners not be fully 90° true.
• Hinged outer covers to allow the lying in of cables before clipping into position.
• The soft edge profile and clip-on covers provide an easy clean surface with no flat edges to discourage the resting of items including cups of coffee!

Conclusion

“Product quality and a competitive price was obviously important but we were also looking for something modern to complement this new academy,“ continued Simon, “the Meridian range suited in all aspects and the support from Centaur was excellent.
