REHAU has been shortlisted for a H&V News Award for its innovative TABS (Thermally Activated Building Structures product.

Nominated in the Commercial HVAC Product of the Year (heating) category, TABS is up against some stiff competition, but REHAU is hoping to take home the H&V News Award thanks to TABS’ very innovative and unique offer.

TABS is a concrete core tempering solution which effectively transforms building slabs into huge thermal stores for heating and cooling buildings. It works by transporting low temperature hot water or chilled water through a network of PE-Xa pipes buried within the walls or floors to provide low energy, radiant heating and cooling.

With low investment and operating costs, high levels of comfort and performance, and easy installation, TABS has already won support from leading architects and consultants and has been specified for some of 2016’s iconic new builds, including the Tate Modern extension and the largest Passivhaus certified building in the UK at Leicester University Medical School.

Drew Clough, Product Manager from REHAU said: “We are delighted to have made the H&V News Awards shortlist. TABS is a contemporary reimagining of a traditional construction concept, using the very best of modern materials technology to deliver an environmentally responsible heating and cooling solution. Just being shortlisted raises the profile of this innovative product, and hopefully encourages more people to think outside of the box when it comes to a building’s long term sustainability.”

Now in their 23rd year, the H&V News Awards are an annual celebration of excellence, forward thinking and the highest achievements across the building services industry. The winner of each category will be chosen by a panel of industry experts and announced at a special ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 20 April 2017.
