RESitech

The RESItech range from Channel offers the complete residential detection range for mains interlinked and wireless solutions. Representing a fantastic solution for landlords to ensure their rental properties are fully compliant.

  • Wireless Base - The RESitech® Wireless base is designed for use with the RESitech range of smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms. The Wireless Base transmits a Radio Frequency (RF) alarm signal when the attached unit senses smoke/heat/CO (whichever is appropriate). When it receives a radio alarm signal from another RESitech alarm (which also uses the Wireless Base), the attached alarm will also sound.
  • Ionisation Smoke Alarm - Ionisation smoke alarms are more effective at detecting flaming fires. A common source of these types of fire may include highly flammable materials such as paper, clothing or bedding. Designed for use in bedrooms or sleeping quarters.
  • Optical Smoke Alarm - Optical smoke alarms are more effective at detecting smouldering fi res. A common source of these types of fire may include cigarette burns to upholstery or bedding. Designed to be used within the following areas of a residential property: Living room, Dining room, Landing and Hallways.
  • Heat Alarm - Heat alarms should be used where normal smoke detection might result in nuisance alarms due to high levels of smoke, fumes or dust. Designed to be used within the following areas of a residential property: Kitchens, Basements, Boiler rooms, Attics and Garages.
  • Carbon Monoxide Alarm - It is a legal requirement to install a carbon monoxide detector adjacent to any newly installed solid fuel appliance. Designed to be used within the following areas of a residential property: Kitchen, Utility / boiler room and next to solid fuel burners.
  • Easy-fit Base - The all new RESitech® easy-fit base is designed for use with the RESitech range of smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms. Utilising a loop in / loop out mounting base allows the installer to simply ‘plug and go’ and will dramatically reduce fitting time.

The Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations i, SI 341, introduced in 1996 to enact the EU Signs Directive ii, required that all text-only fire safety signs (i.e. EXIT or FIRE EXIT signs) produced to comply with BS 2560 should be replaced by 24th December 1998 with the pictogram format “running man” signs.

This mandatory change of signage presents a considerable opportunity for business. Text only signs may still be seen in many premises and the occupiers are quite unaware that their Fire Safety signs are no longer acceptable and should have been replaced.

Consideration should not only be given to updating signs by changing the legend panels or diffusers, but also to taking the opportunity to test the installed signage products. Testing will often reveal that the internal battery also needs replacing. Replacement of just the legend panels or diffusers may be difficult if the sign luminaire type has been discontinued by the maker. This, combined with the possible need to replace the internal battery, will usually mean that it is more cost effective to replace the whole luminaire.
