New cable ordering advice

A new guide for electrical contractors is designed to help avoid pitfalls when ordering cable. Produced by the Approved Cables Initiative (ACI) and the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA), it provides a 10 point reminder of the key requirements when placing an order for electrical cables. To that end, purchase orders should include the following information:

Type of cable
BS or other standard number
Cable reference number or code
Number of cores and nominal cross section
Quantity and lengths of cable required
Manufacturer’s details
Traceability details
Third party approval
Technical options
Delivery details
