Simpler pre-qual for public sector contracts
18-10-2010
Business Minister Mark Prisk has announced that the government is introducing a simpler way of pre-qualifying for construction contracts.
Currently businesses may have to answer a different set of questions every time they bid for new government contracts. Now, a standard pre-qualification questionnaire is available as a free download to streamline the process and save the industry and its clients an estimated £250m per annum.
The Publicly Available Specification (PAS 91) has been developed by the British Standards Institution in partnership with the Department for Business. It as been developed with direct involvement of the Electrical Contractors Association, the Specialist Engineering Contractors Group, the National Federation of Builders, the Federation of Master Builders and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association.
PAS 91 can be downloaded free of charge here.
