Energy saving lighting expert Megaman has supplied its 2w Pygmy LED dimming lamps to The Cotton Rooms, a 35 bedroom boutique hotel for patients being treated at UCLH (University College London Hospital). The simple retrofit installation has significantly helped to reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs within the facility.

The Cotton Rooms, developed by the UCLH charity, is available to patients who are being treated at the hospital but do not require overnight clinical care. Offering 4 star facilities, the hotel provides patients undergoing tests and treatments a luxury haven to make their stay as comfortable as possible.

The original 25w pygmy lamps installed in the reception area were forcing staff to cope with a variety of problems with the lighting. The lamps were failing regularly and, with limited maintenance staff on site to replace the lamps, this was causing disruption to the busy reception area. Local electrical wholesaler CEF was asked for advice on the situation and recommended a simple change to Megaman’s 2w Pygmy dimming lamps.

Part of Megaman’s Decorative LED series, the pygmy lamps provide 50,000 hours life with instant start up and 80% reduction in energy. Offering a warm colour temperature of 2800k the lamps offer the right light effect whilst significantly reducing heat emissions.
